Chancery is a free law firm website template for WordPress, built for attorneys, solo practitioners and small legal practices. It includes a 16-section home page, practice-area pages, attorney profiles, case results with the disclaimer language a legal site needs, fee explanations, client reviews and a consultation page — a calm, credible design that reads as carefully as a good brief.

No plugins bundled — here’s what we’d add

This template is the design: the pages, the sections and the content. It installs nothing else, so you choose the plugins and can swap any of them later without changing themes. For a law firm site these are the free plugins we would pick, and the same list appears in the dashboard under Appearance → Chancery setup.

  • WPForms Lite — Drag-and-drop case evaluation and contact forms, with conditional questions so each matter type asks what it needs.

Fast, accessible and SEO-friendly

Chancery is a block theme: every section is a pattern you can edit in the WordPress page editor with no code. It uses self-hosted fonts, no theme JavaScript, AA color contrast and responsive layouts, and works with Yoast, Rank Math and other SEO plugins. 3 color styles are included (Default, Oxford, Burgundy). How to install

1. Install the theme

  1. Download chancery.zip. Don’t unzip it.
  2. In WordPress, go to Appearance → Themes → Add New Theme → Upload Theme.
  3. Choose chancery.zip, click Install Now, then Activate.

2. Import the demo

  1. Go to Appearance → Chancery setup and click Import demo content.
  2. This creates the Home, Practice areas, Attorneys, Results, About, Contact and Legal insights pages, sample posts with photos, the menu and the front page. No plugins are installed.

3. Add the features you need

The theme bundles no plugins. These are the free ones we’d add for a law firm site — install them from Plugins → Add New Plugin:

4. Make it yours

  • Edit text and photos right on each page — just click and type.
  • Update your phone, email, address and hours in Appearance → Editor → Patterns → Header / Footer.
  • Change colors and fonts in Appearance → Editor → Styles. Try the Oxford and Burgundy styles.
  • Add more sections from + → Patterns → Chancery: Sections.
