About Lectern
Lectern is a free online course website template for WordPress, designed for medical student courses and exam-prep academies. It includes a 16-section home page, a course catalog, curriculum outlines, instructor profiles, a course bundle price builder, pricing plans, student reviews, FAQs and a built-in enrolment and demo request form. It is a marketing site for your courses; connect it to an LMS plugin such as LearnDash, Sensei or LifterLMS to deliver the lessons.

Our own free plugin, bundled in the theme ZIP and installed in one click. It adds a booking and quote-request form block: requests are saved in your dashboard, emailed to you and exportable.

How to install
1. Install the theme
- Download lectern.zip. Don’t unzip it.
- In WordPress, go to Appearance → Themes → Add New Theme → Upload Theme.
- Choose lectern.zip, click Install Now, then Activate.
2. Import the demo
- Go to Appearance → Lectern setup and click Import demo content.
- This creates the Home, Courses, Pricing, Instructors, About, Contact and Study guides pages, sample posts with photos, the menu and the front page. It also installs Booking Requests, our free plugin (booking form + Quote Estimator calculator) that comes inside the theme.
3. Set up your forms
- In Bookings → Settings, add your services, preferred times and the email address that should receive requests.
- Requests appear under Bookings. Mark each one as Contacted, Booked or Closed, and export them to CSV any time.
- Select the Quote estimator block in the page editor to set your own prices, slider range, packages and add-ons.
- If notification emails don’t arrive, install an SMTP plugin such as WP Mail SMTP. Requests are always saved in the dashboard either way.
4. Make it yours
- Edit text and photos right on each page — just click and type.
- Update your phone, email, address and hours in Appearance → Editor → Patterns → Header / Footer.
- Change colors and fonts in Appearance → Editor → Styles. Try the Clinical teal and Crimson styles.
- Add more sections from + → Patterns → Lectern: Sections.
The ZIP includes INSTALL.txt with these steps.
